Our high school has been for three years participating in a pedagogical innovation program called Plurilingual Generation, or as we know it … GEP!

Thanks to GEP, the 3rd year ESO students have had the opportunity to work on key concepts in Biology but … in English!  At first sight,  everything seemed a difficult odyssey but GEP activities turned out much more fun experience than we thought!

The theory says that doing GEP the students increase the number of English hours exposure and this fact promotes our autonomy and language proficiency.

And in practice… We have achieved this by doing laboratory practices in English. For example, we had to dissect a lamb’s heart and lungs. It was a great experience!

In addition, taking advantage of the fact that at the end of the school year we will visit the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, we have done a lot of activities to understand the functioning of the ecosystems.

Thanks to the good job and the cooperative work in teams we have seen how, in English, we can work on and understand quite complex biology concepts!

A great GEP experience!

GEP “Biology (3rd ESO)- EL COS HUMÀ I ECOSISTEMES EN ANGLÈS!

Ja fa tres cursos que el nostre institut participa en el programa d’innovació pedagògica Generació Plurilingüe o com nosaltres el coneixem… El GEP!

Gràcies al GEP l’alumnat de 3r d’ESO hem tingut l’oportunitat de treballar conceptes clau en Biologia però…en llengua anglesa! Tot el que, inicialment, semblava una odissea difícil d’assolir, ha resultat ser una experiència molt més divertida del que ens pensavem!

La teoria diu que fent GEP a l’aula incrementem el nombre d’hores d’exposició a la llengua anglesa i això promou la nostra autonomia i competència lingüística. I a la pràctica això ho hem aconseguit fent pràctiques de laboratori en anglès. Per exemple, hem hagut de disseccionar un cor i un pulmó de xai. Ha resultat tota una experiència!

A més, aprofitant que, com a sortida de final de curs anirem a visitar el paratge natural dels Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, hem fet un munt d’activitats per poder entendre com són i com funcionen els ecosistemes.

Gràcies a la feina ben feta i al treball cooperatiu en equips hem vist com, en anglès, també podem treballar i comprendre conceptes de biologia prou complexes!

Tota una experiència GEP!
